Hi, I’m Amy - an Integrative Counsellor working online via Zoom.
I work with clients struggling with life - whether with their mood, identity, self-esteem or issues around chronic illness and disability.
Welcome.
I’m a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor offering online counselling via Zoom and phone sessions. I’m a down-to-earth, empathic therapist, here to support you and to offer a space where you can explore what feels difficult right now.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation as I believe the relationship, and feeling comfortable, can be one of the most important parts of therapy. This way you can see how you feel with me without any pressure to proceed.

“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive.”
— Brené Brown
Who I work with
I work with people who are struggling - whether with their mood, meaning in life, identity, relationships or whatever the case may be. You don't need to wait until you’re at your darkest place to start therapy.
Counselling for mood, self-esteem and relationship issues
I have worked with many clients struggling with their mood (such as with depression and anxiety), self-worth, self-care and difficulties in relationships - in both the past and present.
Sometimes the specific issue doesn’t feel clear but it’s knowing that life is harder than you want it to be, or just craving that exploration of your life to be able to grow and have a better future - even if you don’t know what that looks like.
I also have special experience with…
Online Counselling for those with Chronic Illness and/or Disability
I support clients in processing experiences of being or becoming chronically ill and/or disabled. Every client is different but often this includes exploring the impact of ableism (both external and internalised), feelings of loss, and the challenges of navigating the healthcare system - including medical gaslighting and trauma.
You may also want to explore something totally unrelated, with someone who gets what it is to have these issues as an undercurrent. Having chronic illnesses myself gives me that extra understanding, while knowing our experiences may be vastly different.
I have understanding of various conditions including M.E, POTS, Endometriosis, Fibromyalgia, EDS, MCAS, SMA, Long Covid etc
Online Counselling for LGBTQ+ clients
I have worked with and am affirming of clients who identify across the range of Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity. This includes clients who are trans, non-binary and polyamorous. I am bisexual myself and have undertaken training to ensure and expand my understanding of GSRD.

“We talk a lot about how hard therapy is… But we never really talk about how fun it can be. How great it can feel. How exciting it is, figuring shit out. How amazing it is when the heaviness disappears for a bit.”
— Sofie Hagen
My approach
Modalities
I was trained in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, and work with a person-centred foundation, with integration of psychodynamic, relational, existential and cognitive approaches.
What sessions are like
In real terms, a session with me usually starts with a genuine "how are you doing" or "how have you been?" and we see where we go from there. You can lead the session, bringing things you know you want to explore. Or, you can just start talking and we can see what comes up. I’m always there to assist too if that feels tough, prompting with exploratory questions.
You’ll find that I empathise and connect with your experiences, taking time to get to know you and the life that you’ve lived. Where appropriate I will also share insights as I wonder about patterns and connections in your life.
I understand that talking about traumatic experiences can feel overwhelming. I work with you to make this process feel safer and to pace our sessions so you can care for yourself along the way. There’s never any pressure or rush.
What I’m like
All of this might sound full-on and there’s no denying it can be at times. As we go through this process though I am alongside you - with my warmth and care. I am down-to-earth and will laugh and swear with you when it feels right. I take this process seriously while also knowing those lighter moments can be needed too.
Even with the best intent and hopefully being well-attuned, there will inevitably be times I get something wrong, or something might land badly, and I always welcome this being shared. I intentionally create space for this - checking how things land and not assuming I have something right. I’m not defensive and it’s important to me that I’m understanding you, including your experience in therapy.
Long-term work at your pace
My work is open-ended, meaning there’s no limit on the sessions we can do. I believe change takes time - there are no quick fixes I’m afraid. But with time, patience and work can come lasting changes.
How we get on
If you book a free consultation, we can talk more about all this and answer any questions you might have. Most importantly, it’s a chance for both of us to see if we feel like a good fit.
Before booking in you can check out more practical info including fees here. You’re also welcome to email me with any questions that feel important before booking.
